Anti-Putin protesters march in Moscow

Several dozen protesters marched down Moscow’s Mira Avenue chanting "Russia without Putin", "We need another Russia" and "Revolution" and demanding Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's resignation.

The protesters were carrying flags of the writer Eduard Limonov's National Bolshevik Party and former world chess champion Garry Kasparov's United Civil Front.

They also burned a picture of the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. However, neither of the opposition party leaders took part in the march.

Along with calls for Putin to quit, the groups criticized the government's response to the global economic crisis.

About ten participants in the action were detained at a police station they were taken to from the protest.
