Russian Standard Vodka is suing its former Italian Director General Carlo Radicati, demanding over $10 million from him for deliberately causing damages to the company.
Radicati celebrated his 49th birthday on Saturday, and on Monday he was sued by his former employers, Russian Vedomosti daily reports.
According to Russian Standard’s press service, the latest audit results raised questions regarding the way the former director managed things at the company. Now the alcohol producer is seeking 311.4 million rubles from him, without voicing what exactly the claim against him is.
“Our claims are large in scope and we decided to take them before a court, to have them fairly evaluated,” spokesman for Russian Standard told Vedomosti.
Radicati responded by saying that he will remain silent until his lawyers have studied the claims in detail.
Radicati has known Rustam Tariko, the owner of Russian Standard Group whose enterprises include liquor production, a bank, an insurance company and a premium alcohol importer, for 15 years.
He worked for Russian Standard from April 2007 to July 2008, when he left the company for Russian Alcohol Group.
According to legal experts, the Russian Starndard should first appeal to the Prosecutor’s Office of the law-enforcement agencies to prove the deliberate damages done by the ex-manager. The audit results may not be considered valid proof of his guilt in court.
