28 Jul, 10:53 PM

Eleven people, including two children, have been killed in a road accident in the Nogai district of Dagestan in south Russia, days after President Medvedev demanded that order be restored to Russian roads.

The Dagestani road police department told Itar Tass that “three cars collided on the 15th kilometer of the Terekli-Mekteb-Kizlyar highway at 22:10, Moscow time, Monday.”

According to the investigation, the person responsible for the collision was the driver of a Zhiguli car that drove up the oncoming lane and collided with another car. The driver of the car that was following him failed to react promptly enough to the obstacle ahead and also collided with them.

Ten people, including a child, died on the spot in the crash. Another child died in hospital later.

Five injured people were discharged from hospital after receiving first aid.

The person responsible for the collision, who was driving a car with Chechen number plates, was burnt with his car, police said.

The crash happened less than a week after a bus full of people collided with a truck near the city of Rostov on Don, causing the death of more than twenty people and inciting agry remarks from President Medvedev, who vowed to restore order to the Russian roads.
