10-year old boy shot in the head during military exercise

A 10 year-old boy from the small Ukrainian village of Russkaya Lozovaya in eastern Ukraine has been shot in the head with an AK-47 while coming home from summer school lessons, Ukrainian website Donbass.ua reports. The bullet was fired from the Kharkov military lyceum's firing range, which is situated not far from the village.

The boy, who has not been named, has been taken to hospital where doctors say that his condition is serious but stable.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science has confirmed that the Kharkov military lyceum conducted exercices on that day and that Kalashnikov weapons were used.   

The firing range of the Kharkov’s military lyceum is situated 2 kilometers of the Russkaya Lozovaya village.

Ukrainian police experts have begun a ferensic investigation to establish who shot the boy.
