A six year old girl has been taken from her grandmother’s backyard, where she was taken care of by dogs.

Veronika Tishchenko grew up in a pack of dogs in Khabarovsk Region in Russia’s Far East, neglected by her relatives, RenTV channel reports. As the police came to take the girl away, her grandmother, the only family member present, argued that the girl was quite happy where she was.

Veronika’s younger brother was even less lucky – the dogs killed him two years ago in the same backyard.

Aged six, the girl can neither speak nor eat with a cutlery, but is physically healthy, doctors say after examining her.

Moreover, although her development froze at 1.5 years, Veronika is capable of restoring her intellectual growth, psychologists said, although it may take time to rehabilitate.

In May, a five-year-old girl in the Baikal Region was taken from her home after neighbors reported that the child had been raised by cats and dogs and neglected by her parents.
